Memory
Maybe the most sacred function of memory is just that: to render the distinction between past, present, and future ultimately meaningless; to enable us at some level of our being to inhabit that same eternity which it is said that God himself inhabits.

Living lives that matter to God
Because we are important to God, I think God cares about what is important to us. I also think it is a good thing to look back at where we’ve come from and what God has brought us through. Even though memories can bring up sadness for things and people we miss, there is something healing about reconnecting with our past.
