Warm it up Chris!

I was a make-pretend DJ for an event last week and got to choose the entire playlist. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber all made the cut.  What does it say about me that I enjoy music from people half my age? I don’t know.

The return of the Backstreet Boys got me thinking about the only song of theirs I really know. It’s the one that goes, I don’t care who you are, where you’re from, what you did, as long as you love me. Those lyrics sound nice, but this might possible be the worst relationship advice I’ve ever heard in my life.

The other similar song from that era that I remember is the one about the guy who wants to stand with this girl on a mountain and bathe with her in the sea.  I enjoyed that song about as much as a root canal. Something about it made me want to hurt myself.

I started thinking about these songs after watching the entire final season of 24 this weekend.  At one point, one of the characters tells his fiance that he doesn’t care what she has done in her past.  He pretty clearly changed his mind about 4 episodes/hours later.  She should have asked for his initial comments in writing.

I watched all those episodes of 24 in an attempt to decompress after some stressful weeks.  Looking back, I can’t say that watching a full season of that show in day and a half was the best way to decompress.

I finished the series at 4 in the morning.  Now, instead of being wound up, I’m tired and wound up.  It’s like when someone opens the car window after a fart in the winter-time.  Instead of having to smell a bad odor, you have to smell a bad odor and now you’re freezing.

I am compressed because I have too much on my plate. If you have too much on your plate, maybe you should eat something.  Or, spend less time on the dishes.

Speaking of eating something, I saw a younger guy named Chris in the kitchen at work last week about to use the microwave. Upon seeing him, I called “Warm it up Chris!” I don’t think he caught the reference.

In case you didn’t catch the reference, check this out. You have to be impressed with the mileage they get out of that one dance move. And how can they be old enough to drive that car? By the way, whatever happened to these guys? Can we bring them back? Will they at least play at the Hampton Casino with all the others I haven’t heard from in 20 years?

Being in three fantasy football leagues was a bad bad idea. It’s like filling out multiple brackets for the NCAA tournament. I know that all kinds of significant events are happening, but don’t know if they are good or bad. Sometimes, they are both. On top of that, I end up neglecting all of them rather than putting all my attention into one team. So far, the result is all 3 teams losing and me having a big headache. Why did I have to go and make things so comp-li-cated?

I’m starting to feel stressed again. I’m going to go do some dishes.

Brilliant analogy. I can totally relate to that feeling from 24. I’ve done something similar. Though never in that short of time. Bravo!
