You’re Simply the Best

When I was younger, I always wanted a black computer. I wasn’t so much concerned about how it ran, I just wanted it to look cool.  Over the years, my dream of owning a black computer gradually became a reality.  Still, there was always something missing.  I might have a black monitor, but the case would still be white.  I would get a black keyboard, but have a white mouse.  It was sort of like a nice outfit with the wrong belt/shoes combination – almost there but not quite right.

Like Microsoft coming out with new operating systems, I was always adding new parts to old computers rather than starting over with new parts to new computers.  This happened most recently when my computer needed a new fan.  In the process of trying to fix the thing, I accidentally blew up the CPU. Out of necessity, I had to begin again.  From scratch.  Not only did I decide to get a new computer, I decided to get a laptop.

It wasn’t very difficult for me to find the right laptop.  After all, I just wanted it to look cool.  I spotted my new laptop like a wannabe girlfriend in a large crowd.  She was smooth.  She was pretty.  She was black. After picking her up, I wanted to hug her and treat her well.  Like a child, I couldn’t wait to tuck her into her new case at night.  Like that one puppy at the pet store, she made eyes at me.  We had a special connection. I knew I had to make her mine.

I think that one of the great things about the Internet is how knowledge can be leveraged. Good sites can spread quickly through word of mouth and enrich other’s lives.  Just think of how many people were touched by the Susan Boyle video.  I doubt think it would have gotten 62,135,750 views on YouTube if YouTube didn’t exist (duh!).  Still, there are a lot of great sites that people aren’t yet aware of! Like Susan Boyle, they are waiting to be discovered!

I am always asking my friends to let me know about good blogs and podcasts.  I do this because I don’t want to miss out! I feed my computer and bathe it.  I whisper sweet nothings into the “microphone in” jack.  I take it on walks.  I give it biscuits.  I do this because I want to get the most out of my computer.  I want to get the most out of my computer, because it is so pretty.  And it is black.  And it interacts with me.  And it treats me well (usually).  And it is mine.

I say all this, because I want to share some of the things I’ve learned.  This is still a very short list, so please help me out!  These range from basic (because my mom reads my blog) to obscure (because other people read my blog).  (At least I think other people might read my blog.)  (Maybe.)  (I dunno.)  So, without further adieu, here are the sites that I consider worth spreading.

I’m sure I can come up with a few good ones. Meanwhile, I left you my not very impressive blog. Any advice you have for a newbie, I’d appreciate it! 🙂
