Joy

Here is a thought to ponder:

The surest mark of a Christian is not faith, or even love, but joy.

– Sam Shoemaker, Co-Founder of Alcoholics Anonymous

I think that joy comes from worshipping and obeying God even when it hurts.  It’s also a fruit of the Spirit who fills us with this hope.

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy” (1 Peter 5:8).

“Those who look to Him are radiant with joy, their faces will never be ashamed” (Psalm 34:5).

“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

Joy is what will attract an unbelieving world.  Lord God, increase my joy.
